Alexander Schwiersch, Vice-president, Asset Management Division, Credit-Suisse
Specializing in Finance, Alexander graduated from UBC Commerce (now the Sauder School of Business) with a BCom in 2001, having also participated in the PMF program. Upon graduation, he joined HSBC's global graduate program, working in both London and Paris as a corporate bond analyst. He earned his CFA designation and later moved to Credit-Suisse, where as Vice-president in their Asset Management division, his role is to manage European high yield bond funds as well as analyze individual high yield securities.
Originally from White Rock, BC and keen to work abroad, Alex jumped at the opportunity to go to London. He loves the city both because of the opportunities it affords as one of the largest financial centres in the world and because the city itself, which he describes as great, vibrant and exciting.
Alex's advice for new graduates: "Make the most of your time off graduation. Have the courage to believe in your own convictions."
